"ZOOTV" tour - august 22, 1992 - U2 perform in Foxboro, Massachusetts at Foxboro Stadium. The three concerts have U2 performing in front of approximately 150,000 fans. On the second night, Bono performs several songs including "Where The Streets Have No Name" which includes a verse of Yeats' "September 1913". At the sametime, Larry performs "Wild Rover". "So Cruel" is practiced extensively and Bono is overheard complaining with good humour: "Joe[O'Herlihy], this echo business...is this the real world? I know I'm a nice bunch of guys, but there's about eight of me singing up here. So I don't know which one to play the guitar to...which also might have been what was happening the other night on the B-stage." Bono's performance of "So Cruel" that evening is amazing, and the mezmorizes the crowd. The White House phone call is made to George Bush, but when Bono is unable to reach him, he again asks for the First Lady, Barbara Bush. Support is B.P. Fallon, "Primus" and "Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy".

"Elevation" tour - august 22, 2001 / London, England - Earl's Court - JJ72. Bono again dedicates 'Kite' to his father, who died yesterday in Dublin. As the band begins 'Kite', fans throughout the arena light lighters until their effort fills the arena. Edge wears blue shirt # 21.
"Bono, Edge, and Larry attend a Corrs wedding" - august 22, 2002. Bono, Edge, and Larry are in attendance as Caroline Corr, drummer with Irish pop band The Corrs, marries Frank Woods on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
'Elevation Live in Boston wins DVD award' - august 22, 2002. U2's Elevation 2001: Live From Boston picks up the "Best Music Release DVD" award at the 5th DVD Awards in Hollywood.
Bono, again, nominated for Nobel Peace Prize - August 22, 2005 - German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize, according to DPA news agency. Nobel literature laureate Günter Grass of Germany, who won the 1999 prize for literature, said Monday that he considered Schröder a candidate for the peace prize over his opposition to allowing Germany participate in the US-led attack on Iraq. A record 199 nominations including 166 individual nominees were reported to be under consideration for the 2005 award. The peace prize, worth 10 million kroner ($1.5 million, 1.24 billion euros), will be announced Oct. 14 in Oslo, Norway. Other names mentioned were former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, renowned musician Ravi Shankar of India, Chinese dissident Wei Jingsheng and previous nominees such as former Czech President Vaclav Havel, Israeli nuclear whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu, and Bono of the Irish rock group U2. Parliamentarians, academics, former peace prize laureates and current and former members of the Norwegian Nobel committee have the right to nominate candidates.
Bono about new U2´s album for next year *Edge´s on fire* - August 22, 2006 - While in Sarajevo this week, Bono announced to Bosnian TV that the band plans to release a new album next year. He also put the cliché police on red alert with the standard comments about what Edge is doing these days: "I would like to think that we're doing our best work now. We're about to make a new album for next year, and it's the most important thing. We like being in a room with each other. We like playing. Something happens when we play, we have some sort of chemistry. And Edge, right now, is on fire. He's really rockin'. He's playing guitar like I've never seen him playing guitar. So, I like to think that the best is yet to come."
Paul McGuinness and TV3 - August 22, 2006 - The remaining shareholders in TV3, which include U2 manager Paul McGuinness and Ossie Kilkenny, the band's accountant, have also agreed to sell their stake to Doughty Hanson.
Bono visits old pal Pavarotti - August 22, 2006 - It's announced today that U2 Star met recovering tenor in Pesaro - Irish rock legend Bono paid a flying visit this week to his old friend Luciano Pavarotti, who is convalescing after undergoing surgery for pancreas cancer in July. The U2 lead singer called in on the tenor at his villa at Colle San Bartolo near Pesaro on Monday, but the visit was kept secret until Wednesday. Bono and Pavarotti have been good friends for over 10 years and the duo have performed together for good causes many times
The Edge contributes to The Clash´s collection - August 22, 2006 - A box-set of all The Clash's UK singles will be released this autumn. The collection will contain all 19 released singles, along with replicas of the original sleeves and labels. The box-set will also include six tracks which have never been released on CD, as well as other bonus songs. A 44-page booklet will carry photos, sleevenotes and contributions from other musicians, including U2's The Edge and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie. The package will be available in shops from October 30.
