SEPTEMBER 10: 1st time of 'One Tree Hill' / Bono attends the TIFF!
"Iris Hewson" - september 10, 1974. Iris Hewson, Bono's mother, dies of a brain hemorrhage four days after collapsing at her own father's funeral.
"The Joshua Tree" tour - september 10, 1987. U2 perform the first of the "Joshua Tree' third leg tour shows in Uniondale, New York at Nassau Veterans' Memorial Coliseum. It is the first time that the band have performed on the anniversary of Bono's mother's death. After the opening song, "Bullet The Blue Sky", U2 perform the Beatle's "Helter Skelter". "One Tree Hill" is performed for the first time, to the delight of the audience. Backstage, Bono had expressed reservations about performing the song in public, and the band was unsure whether they would perform it until Bono motioned for them to do so. The song is performed with raw power and emotion. Support is Mason Ruffner.
Bono attends the TIFF (#1) - september 10, 2005. Bono makes an appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival where he sees the screening of fellow Irishman Liam Neeson's new film, Breakfast on Pluto.
