"October" tour - october 28, 1981 - U2 perform in Leiden, Holland at Stadsgehoorzaal.

"The Unforgettable Fire" tour - october 28, 1984 - U2 perform in Brussels, Belgium at Vorst Nationaal. On the second night, Bono discusses Belgium's mandatory conscription: "I think everybody here has to join the army at some point, is that right? Well, this particular person spent the last week in a barracks under arrest for wearing his "War" T-shirt. They actually lock you up in a cell, just for one of these...I wish you well in all your efforts to stop all that nonsense." Support is "The Alarm".

"The Joshua Tree" - october 28, 1987 - U2 perform in Chicago, Illinois at the Rosemont Horizon. In three sold-out dates, U2 perform in front of 51,998 people. The band are surprised by the thunderous applause that accompanies them on stage, and that the crowd confidently sing along to every song. On the first night, "Southern Man" is played for the third time on the 3rd leg of the "Joshua Tree" tour. "You know," Bono improvises, "we started playing our own songs because we couldn't play anybody else's songs...we still can't. When I was 17, I just about learned to play this song on an electric guitar. And I said, 'One day, maybe, if I learn the other chords, I'll go far...' I thought these great singers and songwriters in rock & roll bands had some tricks up their sleeves--but there's no tricks at all. Just three chords, and the truth." Bono again invites a guitarist up from the crowd, who does an extensive solo ("This guy is too good! Hey Edge, I think we better get him off quick!") and introduces him to the crowd, "He says his name is Big Dave. Hey, what was the name of the band again that you played for? 'Lost Luggage'?...Well, I still haven't found the luggage I'm looking for..."

"LoveTown" tour - october 28, 1989 - U2 perform in Adelaide, Australia at Memorial Drive Stadium. On the second night, a five minute fireworks display accompanies "Bullet The Blue Sky". During "Love Rescue Me", Bono asks the fans outside of the stadium, "Even you people hanging on to the trees and down the back, sing with me: sha-la-la-la..." "U2 visits 'Ground Zero'" - october 28, 2001 - Prior to tonight's concert in East Rutherford, NJ, U2 visits 'Ground Zero' in New York city -- the site of the World Trade Center attacks of September 11th.

"Elevation" tour - october 28, 2001 - E. Rutherford, NJ - Continental Airlines Arena - Bono tells the crowd that the band visited 'Ground Zero' today - the site of the WTC attacks. 'Please' is again played with Bruce Brody guesting on piano (Edge and Bono), just like last night's show at Madison Square Garden.

Live 8 DVD gets premiere launch - October 28, 2005 - Bob Geldof has been named the 2005 Man of Peace Sir Bob Geldof said the concerts had "worked magnificently" politically. Bob Geldof has attended a London screening to launch the DVD of the Live 8 concerts which were held in July.Geldof has said he wants the DVD to be "the biggest-selling DVD of all time" when it is released on 7 November. The full line-up from the UK and US concerts are on the DVD, along with excerpts from shows in other countries.

Hands of famous people - October 28, 2006 - Anton Corbijn in Holland to present pictures he took of hands of famous people, they have been made into postcards to promote a telephone helpline.
