"Boy" tour - october 9, 1980. U2 perform in Manchester, England at the Polytechnic School.
"October" tour - october 9, 1981 U2 perform in Newcastle, England at the Mayfair. Support is "Comsat Angels".
"The Joshua Tree" tour - october 9, 1987. U2 perform in Syracuse, New York at the Carrier Dome. Bono decides to have a little fun at the begining of the show: "Action...Roll!" Bono shouts at Phil Joanou and his crew as "Where the Streets Have No Name" start. Support is Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul and "Los Lobos".
"LoveTown" tour - october 9, 1989. U2 perform in Melbourne, Australia at the National Tennis Centre. The seven shows orginally started as two, and then an additonal three were added. Another two were added when ticket sales for the additional three were extremely quick. On this night, Bono uses the old trick of singing along to "Stand By Me", and walking out with the house lights on. The Edge performs "Van Diemen's Land" for the first time live. After the show, hundreds of fans gather at an Irish Pub for a rumoured appearance by U2--nothing happens. Champagne is brought out during "Party Girl" to end the seven nights in Melbourne. Support for all seven shows is "Weddings Parties Anything" and B.B. King.

"Bono performs at NetAid concert" - october 9, 1999. Bono helps kick-off the U.S. portion of NetAid by helping Wyclef Jean lead a group singalong on their single "New Day" with a full stage of artists singing backup. Immediately after the song, Bono stays on stage to sing a solo version of "One." He's joined by Quincy Jones, conducting a 30+ piece orchestra from Julliard, and Italian rocker Zucchero on guitar.
"Bono attends crisis group dinner" - october 9, 2003. Bono attends the International Crisis Group Awards Dinner in New York, which honored philanthropist George Soros and Morton Abramowitz, a former U.S. ambassador to Turkey.
Bono&Ali and Edge attend Corbijn exhibition opening - October 9, 2006 - Bono and Edge were among the famous faces who appeared at the opening reception for Anton Corbijn's U2&I exhibition at the Stellan Holm Gallery in New York City this evening (Oct. 9). The exhibition drew not only celebrities, including Orlando Bloom, Kate Bosworth, Michael Stipe, Dave Gahan, and Gina Gershon, but also a slew of U2 fans, who were eager to see the famous photos of the megaband and talk to the photographer who took them. Six of the photographs on exhibition are available to purchase as lithographs from the gallery at a price equivalent to approximately 84 U2 general admission tickets (figure that one out!). It's announced Make Poverty History's show in Australia - October 9, 2006 - MELBOURNE will host a free rock concert next month as part of the global Make Poverty History campaign - (RUMOR....Bono is invited to speak at the event...) - Eskimo Joe, Paul Kelly, Evermore, the John Butler Trio, Sarah Blasko, and Hilltop Hoods will perform for 15,000 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday, November 17. U2 frontman Bono has also been invited to speak at the event. The concert will be held the day before the G20 global economic summit starts in Melbourne.
