JUNE 6: two shows in the same day / U2 and The Alarm on stage in Colorado / 2nd "Conspiracy Of Hope" show / a gold record for sales in Sweden / to deter the scalpers / Bono at Harvard University / U2-NBA on NBC / "even his mother calls him The Edge..." / Bono-Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame!

"11 O´Clock Tick Tock" tour - june 6, 1980. U2 perform in Leeds, England at the Fan Club(Afternoon), and then a second gig in Dudley, at J.B's in the evening. Support for the evening gig is "Fashion".

"Boy" tour - june 6, 1981. U2 perform in Aylesbury, England at the Friars Club. Support is "Altered Images".

"War" tour - june 6, 1983. U2 perform in Boulder, Colorado at Colorado State University. Admission to the concert is free--it was originally set up to be a back up for the Red Rocks concert the night before. For the encore, Bono says, "There's only one thing that could follow last night and that's tonight. And just for this occasion I'm going to bring back The Alarm, a band you're going to hear about in the future. We're going to play something special for you." The Alarm return to the stage and both bands partake in a version of "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" by Bob Dylan, with both Bono and Mike Peters taking turns at the vocals. Support is "The Alarm" and "The Divinyls".

"Conspiray Of Hope" tour - june 6, 1986. The second of the Conspiracy of Hope concerts in Los Angeles, California at The Forum. Instead of opening with "C'mon Everybody", Bono now solos on one verse of "MLK" before The Edge starts "Pride(In The Name of Love)". Dave Stewart and Bob Geldof get together between acts to perform Bob Marley's "Get Up, Stand Up". Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley, Joni Mitchell and Maria McKee join the all-star finale at the end of the show. Bono thanks promoter Bill Graham for organizing the concerts at the end of the night.

"The Joshua Tree" tour - june 6, 1987. U2 perform in Gothenburg, Sweden at the Eriksberg Shipyard in front of a sold out crowd of 50,000. This is U2's only Scandanavian show of the year, and fans travel from Denmark, Finland, Norway and all over Sweden for the show. To deter scalpers, 500 tickets are sold the day of the concert. Before the show, U2 recieve a gold record for sales in Sweden. It rains all night, and because of the way the stage is situated, half the crowd cannot see the stage--it is one of the worst shows of the "Joshua Tree" tour. Support is "Lone Justice", "Big Audio Dynamite", and "The Pretenders".

"ZOOTV - Zooropa" tour - june 6, 1993. U2 perform in Stuttgart, Germany at Cannstatter Wasen.

"Bono speaks to Harvard University's graduating seniors" - june 6, 2001 - Bono speaks to the graduating seniors at the University's annual Class Day ceremony. With students, friends, family members, and other onlookers, the crowd numbers 15,000 according to one media report. He introduces himself by saying "My name is Bono, and I am a rock star. I say that not as a boast, but more as a confession." His 20-minute speech is focused on Third World debt relief, and the University gives him an honorary degree during the ceremony.

"Elevation" tour - june 6, 2001 - Boston - MA - U2 plays the second of four shows in Boston. NBC-TV airs "Where the Streets Have No Name" live during halftime of its coverage of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between Los Angeles and Philadelphia. They also show "Elevation" on tape from earlier in this show. Most of the footage later used in U2's Elevation 2001: Live From Boston home video is taken from this show. Bono intoduces Edge: "I´d like to introduce you to the scientist in the family, a man who takes sexual pleasure in the collection of data, wearing the number 7 shirt this evening, even his mother calls him The Edge..."Edge wears this night red shirt #7.

"Bono inducted into Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame" - june 6, 2002. Bono and former U.S. president Bill Clinton are inducted into the Washington-based Academy of Achievement's hall of fame at a Banquet of the Golden Plate in the Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin.
