AUGUST 26: two songs with Robbie Robertson / one fan canoes slowly along the Lagan River so he can listen to the show in Belfast / Edge and Bono wrote "DON´T COME KNOCKING"!

'Robbie Robertson' - august 26, 1986 - Robbie Robertson arrives in Dublin to record two songs with U2 for his upcoming solo album.

'POPMart' tour - august 26, 1997 - Belfast, Northern Ireland - Botanic Gardens - Ash. U2 passes on a week's vacation and plays a hastily-scheduled show at the Botanical Gardens in Belfast. It is the band's first show in Belfast in 10 years, and is well-received by the 40,000 fans and by Irish media. One fan canoes slowly along the Lagan River so he can listen to the show. The concert goes on in peace, despite threats of violence in recent weeks from an extreme loyalist faction.

Edge and Bono wrote "DON´T COME KNOCKING" - August 26, 2005 - "I just want to fill you in with what´s happening with DON´T COME KNOCKING. The best news first: Bono and Edge, amidst U2´s strenuous (and highly successful) VERTIGO tour, managed to write a title track for the film! They had intended to do so for a while, but the tour dates across America and then Europe, and especially Bono´s activities with LIVE8, the One Campaign and the G8, had kept them from finding time to do the recording. Understandably so. These issues were far more important than a song!...And they did! Literally in that last minute the song came in. Bono now sings "Don´t Come Knocking" together with Andrea (of THE CORRS, of course). I got goose-pimples when we first heard it and saw it with the picture. It has heartbreaking lyrics, and the duet with Bono and Andrea is stunning. T Bone Burnett who composed and produced all the music for the film also produced and finished this song. I can´t wait for you all to hear it!... from Hello, this is Wimself speaking here
