"Elevation" tour - july 10, 2001 / Stockholm, Sweden - Globe. Stereophonics.

44th 'VERTIGO' show july 10, 2005 - Paris, France - Stade de France - The Music, Snow Patrol. "Happy Birthday" to Hollie; Bono sung opera over Edge´s guitar-SYCMIOYO; "Uno, dos, tres, Louis Quatorze"; again white balloons; a song for London! At the start of Miracle Drug, Bono leads the crowd in Happy Birthday for Edge's daughter Hollie, who's at the show for her 21st birthday. As Sometimes You Can't... ends, Bono tells a story about visiting Paris with his dad 10 years ago, and how after a night of drink, Bob put Bono 'to bed like a baby' and Bob stayed awake singing opera. Bono ends the song by singing opera over Edge's guitar. Bono brings a female fan on stage to dance at the end of One. * 'Hear Him Singing Opera': Another emotional night as Parisians rock the Stade de France....'Who's the man?' asks Bono of Edge, during his solo, and the crowd roars appreciation. 'See the world in Black and Blue/ Stade de France right in front of you' he extemporises during Beautiful Day, before the band transpose the track into a George Harrison classic. 'Here Comes The Sun, Little Darlin', Here comes The Sun, It's alright...' Miracle Drug is another cause for celebration tonight with Bono inviting everyone to sing Happy Birthday to godchild Holly - 21 tonight. And after a raucous English rendition - 'En Francais!' - an equally raucous French interpretation. 'Bon Anniversaire!' U2 have played this city so many times and it has fond memories for Bono of his late father Bob Hewson, who, as usual, finds 'Sometimes' dedicated to his memory. 'This is for my father Bob Hewson, a working class man who loved opera. 'I was with my father in this city 10 years ago. He drank me under the table and took me to my bed. As I drifted to sleep I could hear him singing opera.' ...'Sing this for the city of London,' he requests as the band play in Running To Stand Still. A huge cheer goes up. 'This song we are turning into a prayer. The prayer is that we do not turn into a monster in order to defeat a monster.'...There were more special effects during Pride - when this very creative audience started throwing up hundreds of white ballons again - and also With Or Without You, when one lucky girl got to come out and dance with the singer.... The stage. Balloons during Pride. Screens on Yahweh. Zoo Station. *"Uno, dos tres, Louis Qutorze!": Bono counts down: 'Uno, dos, tres, Louis Quatorze!' Sunday Bloody Sunday is dedicated to one of Bono's 'heroes', football player Zinedine Zidane, who is in the audience. Bono is in a theatrical mood, starts posing and singing on his back on the main stage very early on in the set. At the end of Sometimes, Bono tells the story of his dad drinking him under the table in Paris, and putting him to bed. He says he fell asleep listening to his dad singing opera. Bono then sings part of 'Torna a Surriento' (Return to Sorrento), made famous by Mario Lanza. Just before Miracle Drug, Bono sings Happy Birthday for his god daugther, the Edge's daughter Holly , who turns 21 that night. Then he makes the crowd sing it in French."
