"U2 spy plane" - may 6, 1960. American U2 spy plane piloted by Francis Gary Powers shot down over Soviet Union.
"Boy" tour - may 6, 1981. U2 perform in Atlanta, Georgia at The Agora.
"War" tour - may 6, 1983. U2 perform in Boston, Massachusetts at the Orpheum Theater. This second night is recorded for radio. During "Electric Co.", Bono starts climbing and is helped up to one of the balconies in the Orpheum, and asks for a white flag. Roadie Dennis Sheehan hands him one and Bono sings "Send in the Clowns". The version of "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" from this night eventually appears on the "Under A Blood Red Sky" EP.
"POPMart" tour - may 6, 1997. U2 perform in Eugene, Oregon. A bomb threat is made, and bomb sniffing dogs are used to search various facilities for the rest of the POPMart tour. At the end of 'Please', Larry begins the military drum line from 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' which draws big cheers from the crowd. Bono sings the first line of the song, then improvises different lyrics before the segue into 'Streets.' The concert violates noise bylaws, but no charges are laid against the band or promoter. Edge sings "Daydream Believer."
"Elevation" tour - may 06, 2001 / Pittsburgh, PA - Mellon Arena - PJ Harvey. Bono sings brief pieces of The Beatles 'Drive My Car' and 'Twist and Shout' at the end of 'Elevation.' Edge wears red 'Viva Zapata' shirt, this night.
"Bono attends Tribeca Film Festival" - may 6, 2003. A day after hanging out in Dublin with Robert DeNiro, Bono is in New York for the opening of the second annual Tribeca Film Festival ... which was co-founded by Robert DeNiro.
