MAY 8: "So shut up or get out!" / 5 minutes and the same chords / Cody and Jane and Christine Ray / "Entropy" / Bono at Tribeca.
"Boy" tour - may 8, 1981. U2 perform in New Orleans, Louisiana at Ol' Man Rivers. During the show, a man spits toward the stage. Bono orders the house lights on and points the man out and refers to him as a "real punk...I'll tell you why he's a real punk...because he read about it in the papers. He wears a suit, it's a uniform. He spits because he read about it." The Edge continues the rant by shouting, "So shut up or get out!".
"War" tour - may 8, 1983. U2 perform in Harford, Connecticut at Trinity College. Bono attempts to get to the roof of the building behind the outdoor stage, but unfortunately the door to the roof is locked. He explains his five minute disappearance(in which the rest of the band play the same cords over and over for "Electric Co.") by telling the crowd he has shown everyone in the building the white flag.
"The Joshua Tree" tour - may 8, 1987. U2 perform in Hartford, Connecticut at the Civic Center. This second night's performance of "Pride(In the Name of Love)" is dedicated to a roadie and his wife, Cody and Jane--Bono announces to the crowd that "they just got a little baby today called Christine Ray! That's the power of love!" Support is "Lone Justice".
"Entropy" - may 8, 1998. Judith Godreche announces plans to co-star in Joanou's upcoming film "Entropy", another film featuring U2.
"Bono helps out at Tribeca Film Festival" - may 8, 2004. Bono is in New York City tonight to help open the free concert taking place as part of the annual Tribeca Film Festival. Africa and AIDS are the main topics of what turns into a fairly lengthy speech to the crowd gathered at New York's Battery Park.
