MAY 14: "Countdown in Concert" / Tower Theater / 'Spanish Eyes' again in Spaign / a twirling mirror ball / 21st VERTIGO show!

"October" tour - may 14, 1982. U2 perform in Hattem, Holland at 'T Heem for "Countdown in Concert" for Dutch TV. The show airs July 7, 1982

"War" tour - may 14, 1983. U2 perform in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Tower Theater. Part of the second night's show is aired on local FM radio. Support is "Dream Syndicate".

"ZOOTV" tour - may 14, 1992. U2 perform in San Sebastian, Spain at the Velodrome Apoeta. "Spanish Eyes" is added to the set, just as it was the first time U2 performed in Spain on July 15, 1987 -- it is the only time the song is performed on the whole tour. The song ends quickly as Bono starts forgetting the lyrics. Support is B.P. Fallon and "Fatima Mansions".

"POPMart" tour - may 14, 1997 - Memphis, TN - Liberty Bowl. A tall screened backdrop ran endless, colorful images ranging from a monkey-to-man evolutionary chain and rave dancers to fighter plane animation styled after Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring's distinctive stick people. During Bullet the Blue Sky, 14 huge spotlights shot straight up bulleting the black sky. When the band encored, they emerged from the lemon, which had shed its yellow skin and became a twirling mirror ball. Studio 54? Memphis had Stadium 54. In the night's funniest bit, The Edge - accompanied by a karaoke soundtrack - sang the lyrics to Daydream Believer, which were broadcast in big yellow words on the screen.

21st 'VERTIGO' show - may 14, 2005 - Philadelphia, PA - Wachovia Center - Kings of Leon Edge was on fire / bluesy Bullet solo from Edge! Bono brings two young girls on stage during 'Into the Heart.' Actor Jim Carrey is spotted in the VIP area tonight, and Gavin Friday -- who had come over to help with the recent video shoot in Chicago -- is also in attendance. Edge was totally on fire....Edge's guitar riff right before kicking it into City Of Blinding Lights, as the spotlight is on him only - cool stuff. The bluesy Bullet The Blue Sky solo from Edge was great. Some photos on: U2tours
