JULY 1ST: Marquee Club / at Windmill Lane / LoveTown / with Talking Heads / against Sellafield / "Sweet Caroline"!

"11 O´Clock Tick Tock" tour - july 1980. U2 perform in London, England at the Marquee Club as support for "The Photos".

"2nd album on the way" - july 1981. U2 start recording their new album in Windmill Lane Studios. In the past months, Bono has not been able to get lyrics written down due to writer's block. Bono improvises most of the lyrics.

"Preparations for LoveTown" - july 1989. U2 start preparations for the "LoveTown" tour in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour of the three countries has been postponed several times and the band are eager to start touring again.

"IRFA" - july - august 1997. U2 plans for homecoming concerts are almost derailed by the IRFA, when they attempt to stop the concerts.

"October" tour - july 1, 1982. U2 perform in Leiden, Holland at Groenoordhallen. They support "Tom Tom Club" and "Talking Heads".

"The Joshua Tree" tour - july 1, 1987. U2 perform in Leeds, England at the Elland Road Stadium. Bono takes requests from the crowd, and selects "Electric Co.". Support is "World Party", "The Fall", "The Mission", and "The Pretenders".

"Petition against Sellafield" - july 1, 1992. Various environmental groups including Greenpeace and Cumbrians Opposed to a Radioactive Environment(CORE), present the British Government and Prime Minister John Majore with a petition to halt the construction of a Radioactive Waste Processing Facility at Sellafield, UK.

POpMart" tour - july 1, 1997. U2 perform in Boston, Massachusetts. Edge´s karaoke this night is "Sweet Caroline".
